AIPAD at Pier 94

The 130 or so dealers in the expanded version of the fair means big spaces, wide aisles, and and a host of new exhibitors, including more non-members than ever. Generous 12 foot high walls allow galleries to show more large scale contemporary work with much better site lines. Walking through the fair on Thursday the crowd seemed sparse but serious and there was a lot to see: rare vintage material, emerging artists from around the globe and contemporary masters. AIPAD's new home on the piers also allowed for special exhibitions of private collections -- notably the wonderful Structures in Identity from the Walther Collection.
